Just a little over an hour from now, the Institute for Research on Women and Gender will commence "Arendt after '68," a symposium devoted to a consideration of Hannah Arendt’s theorization of violence in America in the aftermath of 1968. This event lasts through tomorrow afternoon and the schedule is a gift from the academic gods! Elizabeth Povinelli and Rosalind Morris, two of the finest professors in the Anthropology Department, are giving the Welcome and Introductory Remarks respectively.

Must-See Events (according to MOI!):
1)Prof. Spivak's and Prof. Thomas' discussion entitled "An Honorary Male" is happening today at 4:30.
2)Prof. Gourgouris (whose name I hope to have mastered by the end of this semester) will be speaking on "Anarchy's Democracy," along with Prof. Urbinati tomorrow at 3pm.

This is totally a side note (as I see there is a picture of the beehive of satellites that circle the earth)...there are supposedly 17,000+ man-made objects circling earth...2 of which crashed into each other today! A US satellite and a Russian satellite (the chances of this happening are so low so the fact that this happened and in our lifetime, kind of unique)-or maybe their math is atrocious.
